First day of Summer?

Today was the most productive day I’ve had in a long while, and the muscle soreness is already setting in.

I started my day at my mom’s and got my car all packed up from doing laundry and all my “retail therapy” hauls. This frenzied rush involved misplaced keys multiple times, coffee for breakfast, a bit of CNN, minimal makeup & kombucha to go.

When I got back to my place, I quickly put groceries away and all my stuff inside and then headed to my 10 am sutures removal appointment. The home care nurses were lovely, but it did indeed take two people to strategize the removal of the embedded stitches… that’s going to be my ugliest scar that thankfully will remain hidden from polite society for eternity. This is the last I’ll ever talk of it! Relief unparalleled.

When I got back to my car, the temperature gauge read 28 Celsius. I needed some whipped cream so I could eat some overripe nectarines I had. My appetite has been weak, so I figure a little sweet to get the nutrition down isn’t going to hurt at this point. Fruit and cream is something I’d firmly place in the category of healthy indulgences for those who want to lecture me on the dangers of sugar at this juncture in my life.

I went to Waneta Plaza for day 3 of retail therapy. I needed new jeans desperately, as the thighs were holey and not in that intentional distressed way; more just earned from 10+ years of wear and tear. I bought some craft supplies from the dollar store, then popped in to No Frills before heading home to make breakfast

While I ate breakfast, i considered my goals for the day.

  • Goal # 1, finally use one of my Aquatic Centre passes.
  • Goal # 2, ideate my capacity for healing
  • Goal # 3, prepare my balcony for oasis transformation

This might not seem like much, but I got all of this done and fed myself nutritiously and stayed positive most of the day. My discipline against hypothetical future scenarios remained satisfactory. I used the power of my conscious breath to reign my emotions in.

While I swept up all the twigs and crispy leaves from my balcony, the sun coaxed me into removing my cardigan. Summer has arrived.
